On Alchemy
16 December, 200916 December, 2009 17 comments Uncategorized Uncategorized

Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself first. My name is Bess. I am an aspiring doctor and I am keen to get my teeth into work, paid or unpaid. As a nursing student, I have experienced working in different communities and I feel I still have a lot offer. I have studied film and photography for two years but then I realized I really want to be a doctor so I took a medical course.

Perhaps all those stuff are enough to support  my background. I am currently doing a research about Alchemy for my college paper. Honestly, I know so little about the topic given to me. I am hoping that loging in to this site will be helpful. I'm quite sure that the members here know much about the topic. If so, maybe you want to give a hand. You can just leave your comments on this blog which I will visit from time to time. I am based in Phoenix and I am willing to travel out of town for significant resources. I am researching on Alchemy as Spiritual and Philosophical discipline. I am currently looking for more resources.

Alchemy is a radical departure from physical science. While Spagyrics, or plant alchemy isn't regarded as radically different (not demanding a specific inner life of the practitioner), it does recognize esoteric models of Reality such as the Etheric Body, and the Astral Body as well as the Physical Body. Allopathic medicine is far removed from Homeopathc medicine, and Homeopathy is removed from Spagyrics.

Straight-up alchemy is even further removed from strictly cause-effect physical science because the condition of the alchemist's inner life is absolutely intrinsic to an alchemical Operation. Matter cannot be transformed unless the alchemist has first been transformed.
So, unlike physical science which excludes the psyche, alchemy sees the physical and the psychic to be co-extensive. Alchemical results will vary, unlike say, chemical experiments where the outcome does not have to do with the psyche's will, imagination, or 'correspondence' with physical substances.

In alchemy, 'natural magick' with its correspondence to planets, metals, plants and psychic centers (chakra psychology) is included. So is the Qabalistic model of Reality which further refines Reality into Physical, Astral, Psychic and Spiritual domains. Ancient philosophical conceptions of the Four Elements, plus Spirit cannot be forgotten, or the relegation of these four into the three principles of Philosophical Mercury, Sulphur and Salt (paralleling the Ayurvedic medicine of Sattva, Rajas and Tamas, respectively).

So, as Seeker asked, are you sure you're looking in the right place for allopathic models of health/wholeness, or might there be something else you are looking for.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
